Lake South is an electricutopia artist from Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Defiant, DIY indie-pop for people who give a damn. Lake South blend acoustic and electronic elements to create epic songs of defiance, hope and joy.
The band has released 3 critically acclaimed albums with Graham Reid calling Lake an "electro-folk postcard poet of his doubting generation". After taking some time out with the birth of Lake's kid, Lake South are set to release their fourth collection 'Living as we die' on Home Alone Music in June 2025. Lake South has toured Canada, Aotearoa, and was booked to play at SXSW 2020 before the world changed. The band played Camp a Low Hum in 2024 and are booked to play Pōneke's Cubadupa before they tour the country to promote the new album. The current line-up features Theo Sekeris (Ras Judah, Rubita) on bass, Eddie Crawshaw (Sheep Dog and Wolf, Bonaparte) on drums, and Penelope Esplin (French for Rabbits, Eigenface) on harmonies and synths.
