This exhibition showcases the creativity and developing skills of our Year 7 and 8 Academy students at Ōtūmoetai Intermediate.
The artworks celebrate both technical growth and imaginative expression, reflecting the diverse learning experiences within our art programme. Students have explored traditional still life drawing and painting, building observation skills and an understanding of composition, tone, and detail.
Inspired by the vibrant architecture of Frederick Hundertwasser, they created imaginative card constructions that celebrate structure, pattern, and playful design.
Expressive and colourful fish paintings demonstrate students’ confidence in using bold palettes and dynamic brushwork to capture movement and energy.
The exhibition includes striking interpretations of one of our local landmarks, reimagined through the distinctive lens of David Hockney’s style, celebrating place, perspective, and layered colour.
Together, these works represent a journey of artistic discovery, where students have learned to combine technical practice with creative voice. The exhibition highlights not only their developing skills but also their individuality, enthusiasm, and connection to both global and local inspirations.
