Want to add a touch of luxury to your favourite object? Learn the traditional art of water gilding with Dutch metal leaf under the guidance of professional artist Robert Stannage. Bring your own item to gild and leave with a dazzling, professionally finished piece!

All specialist materials provided, including gilding size, Dutch metal leaf, and brushes. No experience necessary—just enthusiasm!

Participants must bring one small/medium object to gild (wood, plastic, metal, resin, stone, marble, concrete, thick art paper, or primed canvas). Not suitable for glass, plaster, or rubber/silicone items. Wear work clothes—the process can be messy!

Robert is a formally trained artist specialising in decorative interiors, gilding, and paint effects. Transitioning into film, he worked as a 3D artist, creating props, miniatures, and sculptures for major productions like Star Wars: Rogue One, Blade Runner 2049, and Beauty and the Beast—where he led a team to apply 10,000+ gold leaves and trained 11 emerging artists, some of whom are now established as leading practitioners in the industry. His expertise spans mould-making, mechanical props, weapons, armour, and specialty finishes across multiple film departments.
