Sport Bay of Plenty invites parents, athletes and coaches of young females to an evening focused on supporting young women through their adolescent years in sport.
Delivered by Dr Tanya Keough, this evening will explore key health considerations for young female athletes, helping parents, coaches and athletes understand what is normal, what may be cause for concern, and when and where to seek support. Dr Keough will discuss important topics including energy availability and REDs, common injuries, and how to recognise when training loads may be too much. With an emphasis on education and empowerment, the evening will provide practical insights to help recognise early warning signs, make informed decisions and prioritise health before performance, keeping more girls healthy, confident and engaged in sport for longer.
