The Incubator Creative Hub and Bethlehem College invite you to experience Bethlehem College's Senior Art Exhibition, a celebration of creativity, identity, and place; returning for the second year in a row.
This year, the Year 11, 12, and 13 Art students have explored the powerful Māori concept of Tūrangawaewae — literally translated as tūranga (standing place) and waewae (feet), meaning “a place to stand.” These are the places where we feel a strong sense of belonging, connection, and empowerment, our foundation, our home, our place in the world.
Through design, photography, painting, sculpture and printmaking, students have reflected on their own tūrangawaewae. Their artworks are shaped and inspired by visits to Te Wairoa, Tauranga city, Mount Maunganui beach, their homes, whānau and friendships, as well as their Christian faith.
Sponsored by Gate Pā New World this exhibition launch preview is Friday 5 September at 5.30pm at The Incubator Creative Hub in The Historic Village, Tauranga.
On display in The People's Gallery - Toi ka rere from 6 to 21 September.
